Railings, awnings, storefront frames, wall panels and extrusion, from production runs to a single piece from home. Aluminum gets its own pre-treatment here.
Aluminum gets its own pre-treatment. It is not blasted the way steel is.
Outdoor aluminum gets a polyester powder, the same as outdoor steel. Epoxy powders chalk in sunlight, so they are for indoor parts.
Send every section of a job together. Sections coated in the same run match; sections coated weeks apart can differ slightly from one batch of powder to the next.
Anything that cannot go through an oven has to come off. Glass, gaskets, weatherstripping, rubber, plastic end caps, wood and wiring. Threads and machined faces that must stay bare are masked here. If you are not sure what has to come off, send a photo and ask.
Deciding between powder and paint for aluminum?
Powder coating vs paintThe powder manufacturer and product code, or a RAL number. No code? Bring a chip or a coated sample and we match it to a powder.
Flat, matte, satin, semi-gloss or gloss; metallic or textured. If the finish schedule gives a gloss level, put it on the drawing.
How many pieces, and the length of the longest one. That tells us whether it fits and how it hangs on the line.
Architectural finish schedules often name an AAMA spec: 2603, 2604 or 2605, in rising order of how long the color has to hold up outdoors. Our AAMA 2604 certification is pending. If yours names one, or a finish warranty, send it with the drawing.
Yes. We coat aluminum, steel and iron. Aluminum gets its own pre-treatment, and we coat anything from a single railing to a full storefront job.
Usually. The product code from the original finish is the surest match. Without one, bring a chip or a piece of the coated metal and we match it to a powder. Old finishes fade outdoors, so the match is made to the sample you bring, not to the color it was when new.
For most outdoor aluminum, yes. Powder goes on thicker and is baked into a hard film, so it stands up to weather and handling better than wet paint.
Yes. A patio set, a mailbox or one railing goes through the same line as a production run. Send a photo with rough sizes.

Rough sizes are fine.
