Refurbishing old metal pieces

We take the old, worn finish off a metal piece and powder coat it, so it comes back looking brand new.

How a piece is refurbished

Whether you’re a homeowner with a worn patio set or a contractor with old railings, bring us the part and we’ll restore it and powder coat it like new.

  1. The old finish comes off

Old paint, old coatings and rust are sandblasted off until the metal underneath is clean. That leaves the fine texture the powder grips.

    How sandblasting works
  2. Powder coated like new

Then the piece goes through our standard process: pre-treatment, coating, curing and inspection. It is finished with the same level of care as our production work.

Sandblasting to bare metal

  1. What comes off

Rust, mill scale and old paint are blasted away, leaving the steel clean. Mill scale is the dark skin on new steel.

  2. The texture the powder grips

The blast leaves a fine, even texture on the steel, called the anchor profile. It is checked before any powder goes on.

  3. Sandblasted in house

Our team handles the blasting and the powder coating, in the same building. The clean metal is coated before it has a chance to rust.

Polished, mirror-bright aluminum chair parts on a mesh rack: a five-arm base, two legs and their feet.
Before
After: The same aluminum chair parts after blasting, with an even matte grey surface, on the mesh rack.

Rust, mill scale and old paint, down to clean metal.

We sandblast in house, so the clean metal goes straight to powder coating, in the same building.

  • Had 3 large cast iron radiators from the 1930s sand blasted + powder coated here and am beyond pleased with how they came out. I spent a lot time researching how best to get them back to their original form after layers of paint and terrible chipping. The price was reasonable and the work was spotless. Highly recommend!
